Where Scientific Breakthroughs Shape the Future of Agriculture

Purpose

JAIT – Journal of Agricultural Innovation and Transformation is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and professionalism in scholarly publishing. As an international platform for credible, high-impact research on agricultural innovation, transformation processes, and sustainable agri-food systems, its ethical framework safeguards the quality, trust, and long-term value of the scholarly record.

These policies ensure that every stage of publication reflects academic rigor, accountability, and respect for all participants—authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers. All stakeholders share responsibility for maintaining these values and engaging in respectful, responsible scholarly exchange that benefits both academia and society.

General Principles

All parties involved in the publication process are expected to:

  • Treat one another with dignity, fairness, and respect, fostering an inclusive and professional environment.

  • Avoid all forms of discrimination, harassment, bullying, or retaliation in communication and conduct.

  • Comply with internationally recognized best practices and ethical guidelines, including those of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), the ARRIVE Guidelines for animal research, and the CONSORT Statement for clinical trials.

  • Uphold the requirement that all manuscripts maintain a similarity index of 15% or less, verified through Turnitin or an equivalent plagiarism-detection tool prior to acceptance.

Duties of Authors

Authors play a central role in ensuring the credibility, reproducibility, and ethical integrity of published work. They are expected to:

  1. Originality and Authorship:
Submit only original manuscripts that have not been published or concurrently submitted elsewhere. All listed authors must have made substantial contributions to the study’s conception, design, execution, or interpretation.

    • Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and duplicate submissions are strictly prohibited.

    • A similarity score exceeding 15% (checked via Turnitin) will trigger review and possible rejection.

  2. Research Integrity and Reporting Standards:
Report findings accurately and transparently, avoiding fabrication, falsification, or data manipulation. Methods must be sufficiently detailed to enable reproducibility.

  3. Authorship and Acknowledgment:
Authorship must reflect meaningful scholarly contribution. Contributors not qualifying for authorship should be properly acknowledged. Ghost or honorary authorship is not permitted.

  4. Conflict of Interest and Funding Disclosure:
All financial, personal, or institutional conflicts of interest, along with funding sources or sponsorships, must be disclosed.

  5. Ethical Approval:
Research involving humans, animals, or sensitive data must comply with ethical standards and obtain approval from relevant ethics committees. Informed consent is required where applicable.

  6. Data Transparency and Availability:
Authors should be prepared to make supporting data and materials available, subject to ethical and legal constraints.

  7. Corrections and Retractions:
Authors must promptly inform the editor of serious errors discovered after publication and cooperate in corrections or retractions when necessary.

Duties of Editors

  • Editors are responsible for ensuring fair, objective, and merit-based evaluation of all submissions. Their responsibilities include:

  • Making independent editorial decisions free from commercial, political, or personal influence.

  • Maintaining confidentiality of manuscripts and reviewer identities.

  • Refraining from handling manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist.

  • Responding promptly and transparently to concerns regarding misconduct or integrity, following COPE procedures.

  • Ensuring plagiarism screening with Turnitin and returning or rejecting manuscripts exceeding the 15% similarity threshold.

Duties of Reviewers

  • Reviewers are essential to maintaining academic rigor and trust. They are expected to:

  • Provide objective, constructive, and timely reviews that enhance manuscript quality.

  • Treat manuscripts as confidential and not use unpublished information for personal advantage.

  • Disclose any conflicts of interest prior to review.

  • All allegations of misconduct will be addressed in accordance with COPE guidelines. Corrective actions may include:

  • Manuscript rejection before or after peer review.

  • Publication of corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern.

  • Notification of authors’ institutions or relevant authorities.
