Journal of Agricultural Policy & Transformation

Advancing Evidence-Based Policies for Sustainable and Inclusive Agricultural Transformation
AgriPaT – Journal of Agricultural Policy & Transformation is an international, peer-reviewed platform dedicated to advancing scholarly, evidence-based, and policy-relevant discourse on the transformation of agricultural systems in response to the pressing global challenges of the 21st century. The journal serves as a bridge between academic research, policy formulation, and practical implementation, providing a critical forum for researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and development professionals to engage with the complexities of agricultural transformation in a rapidly changing world.
The core mission of AgriPaT is to foster research that critically examines the formulation, implementation, and impacts of agricultural and rural development policies, while highlighting pathways to achieve sustainable growth, social equity, and climate resilience. Recognizing the interdependent nature of agriculture, the journal embraces a multidisciplinary perspective, integrating insights from economics, sociology, environmental science, political science, technology studies, and beyond.
We particularly welcome contributions that advance theoretical frameworks, offer robust empirical evidence, and develop innovative policy approaches capable of addressing the interconnected challenges facing global agri-food systems. These challenges include climate change, land and resource constraints, population growth, shifting trade dynamics, and the increasing need for equitable and sustainable food production systems.
Key thematic areas include, but are not limited to:
Climate-smart and sustainable farming systems that enhance productivity while reducing environmental footprints, addressing adaptation and mitigation strategies for climate change.
Digital agriculture and technology adoption, including the role of artificial intelligence, precision farming, big data analytics, and ICT in transforming agricultural productivity and decision-making.
Land tenure, resource governance, and institutional reform, exploring legal, political, and social dimensions of resource rights and their implications for equity, efficiency, and sustainability.
Food security, nutrition policy, and resilience building, with attention to vulnerable populations and the role of policy in ensuring equitable access to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food.
Agricultural and rural development policies that shape structural transformation, rural livelihoods, and inclusive economic growth.
Market dynamics, trade, and value chain governance, analyzing how domestic and international market structures, trade agreements, and governance arrangements affect agricultural competitiveness and farmer welfare.
Investment, finance, and risk management in agriculture, focusing on innovations in credit systems, insurance schemes, and investment mechanisms that enhance sector resilience.
Socioeconomic transformation in farming communities, examining rural diversification, migration, social protection, and gender dynamics in agricultural development.
AgriPaT publishes a variety of article types to reflect the diverse ways in which research can inform policy and practice. These include original research articles based on rigorous quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-method approaches; systematic reviews that synthesize and critically assess the state of knowledge in a given field; and high-quality policy briefs that translate academic findings into actionable recommendations for decision-makers.
The journal applies a double-blind peer-review process to ensure the highest standards of academic integrity and quality. Each submission is evaluated not only for methodological rigor and originality but also for its potential to make a meaningful contribution to the advancement of agricultural policy and transformation debates at both global and local levels.
By connecting robust, contextually grounded evidence with real-world policy and decision-making, AgriPaT aims to contribute to the global transition toward agricultural systems that are resilient, environmentally sustainable, socially inclusive, and capable of adapting to evolving socio-economic and ecological conditions.
Through its global scope, interdisciplinary approach, and emphasis on practical relevance, AgriPaT aspires to be a trusted and influential resource for those shaping the future of agriculture whether in research, governance, industry, or community-level initiatives. In doing so, the journal seeks not only to document and analyze the transformation of agricultural systems but also to actively inform and inspire it.
