Advancing Knowledge at the Nexus of Agribusiness and Society
Purpose
The Journal of Agribusiness and Social Sciences (JASS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and professionalism in scholarly publishing. As an international platform for credible and high-impact research on agribusiness systems, agricultural economics, rural development, and socio-economic transformation, the journal’s ethical framework is designed to safeguard the quality, credibility, and long-term reliability of the scholarly record.
These policies ensure that every stage of the publication process—from manuscript submission to final publication, reflects academic rigor, accountability, and respect for all participants. Authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher share responsibility for upholding these principles and contributing to a responsible and constructive scholarly environment that benefits both the academic community and society.
General Principles
All participants involved in the publication process are expected to:
Treat each other with dignity, fairness, and professional respect, fostering an inclusive scholarly environment.
Avoid discrimination, harassment, bullying, or any form of unethical behavior in professional communication.
Follow internationally recognized standards of ethical publishing, including the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics and the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors where applicable.
Ensure that submitted manuscripts maintain academic integrity and originality.
Adhere to the journal’s plagiarism policy requiring a maximum similarity index of 15%, verified using plagiarism-detection software such as Turnitin or an equivalent tool before acceptance.
Duties of Authors
Authors bear primary responsibility for ensuring the credibility, originality, and ethical soundness of the research they submit.
Originality and Authorship
Authors must submit only original manuscripts that have not been previously published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere.
All listed authors must have made a substantial scholarly contribution to the conception, design, analysis, or interpretation of the study.
Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and duplicate publication are strictly prohibited. Manuscripts exceeding the journal’s 15% similarity threshold may be rejected or returned for revision.
Research Integrity and Reporting Standards
Authors must present research findings accurately and transparently. Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data constitutes serious academic misconduct.
Methods and analytical procedures should be described clearly to enable verification and replication where possible.
Authorship and Acknowledgment
Authorship should reflect meaningful intellectual contribution to research. Individuals who contributed to the work but do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged appropriately.
Practices such as ghost authorship or honorary authorship are not permitted.
Conflict of Interest and Funding Disclosure
Authors must disclose all potential conflicts of interest (financial, institutional, or personal) that may influence the research. Sources of funding or institutional support must also be clearly identified.
Ethical Approval
Research involving human participants, surveys, interviews, or sensitive socio-economic data must comply with relevant ethical standards and institutional review procedures. Informed consent must be obtained when required.
Data Transparency and Availability
Authors should maintain accurate records of research data and be prepared to share supporting datasets or materials where appropriate, subject to ethical and legal considerations.
Corrections and Retractions
If a significant error or inaccuracy is discovered after publication, authors must promptly inform the editorial office and cooperate fully in issuing corrections, clarifications, or retractions when necessary.
Duties of Editors
Editors are responsible for ensuring a fair, transparent, and unbiased editorial process.
Their responsibilities include:
Evaluating manuscripts solely on academic merit, originality, methodological rigor, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

Notification of the authors’ institutions or relevant authorities when necessary.
